1- The school G.A.B. is decorated to
welcome our colleagues from the Mediterranean countries. Greeks, Turks and
Spaniards pose a smile for this family photo.
The picture was taken in the main entrance in front of a huge poster
which reminds us that this visit is part of the Comenius Project and that the
common theme is: The Mediterranean Diet and how it is reflected in the Arts.
2- Our colleagues visit a special class
in our school. In it there is a group of students learning skills in
Reprography and Book Binding. The students are guided by their head teacher
Manuel… and they are the ones who have made most of the decorations displayed
around the school.
3- The visit becomes official when our
colleagues meet the “authorities”. After the welcoming speeches which took
place in the meeting room , we exchanged the “gifts of hospitality”( a custom
that has been practice in Grece for three thousand years) and the hosts and the
guests pose for a picture in which not only the Principal but also the Mayor of
Algete and the Cultural Advisor are present.
Wanted: an specialist in photoshop to edit out this “beautiful” plastic
bag on the table.
4- Candid photo of the students who are
actively taking part in the project. After
difficult tests to choose the candidates ( oral and written English language
tests and personal interviews on
different issues about Greece and Turkey), thirteen students (one of them in the waiting list) have been
chosen to travel to Istambul (Turkey) and
to Varkiza (Greece). We are sure
that living with Turkish and Greek
families will be an unforgettable
experience for them. Don´t forget:
Eastern Europe exists. Let´s glance back at Greece which we owe so much
to and Turkey, the natural bridge between Europe and Asia.
El instituto Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer se engalana para
recibir a nuestros compañeros del Mediterráneo Oriental. Griegos, turcos y
españoles posan sonrientes para una “foto de familia”. La imagen está tomada en
la entrada del Centro donde un enorme cartel nos recuerda que esta visita forma
parte del Proyecto Comenius, con un tema común para los tres países: la dieta
mediterránea y su reflejo en las artes.
Los visitantes se trasladan a un aula muy especial
de nuestro Centro. En ella, un grupo de alumnos cursa estudios de reprografía y
encuadernación. Y son precisamente estos estudiantes, dirigidos por su profesor
y guía, Manuel…, los que han elaborado buena parte del material expuesto en el
Instituto. En el centro, como no podía ser de otra manera, la profesora
española responsable del proyecto: Carmen Tejero.
La visita adquiere un tono más oficial cuando tiene
lugar el encuentro con las “autoridades”. Tras un acto de bienvenida en nuestra
Sala de Reuniones, donde se lleva a cabo la consabida entrega de “regalos de
hospitalidad” (costumbre que ya practicaban hace más de tres mil años en
Grecia), anfitriones y visitantes posan en una foto conmemorativa. En ella no
sólo figuran el Director de nuestro Centro, Augusto Enríquez, sino también la
alcaldesa de Algete y la Concejala de Cultura.
N.B. Se busca con urgencia un especialista en
photoshop para eliminar la bolsa de plástico de la mesa presidencial.
Desenfadada foto en la que aparecen los alumnos y
alumnas que van a participar activamente en el Proyecto. Tras arduas pruebas de
selección (control del nivel oral y escrito de inglés, y entrevistas personales
con cuestiones variadas sobre Grecia y Turquía), han sido elegidos doce alumnos
(y una suplente) para viajar a Estambul (Turquía) y a Varkiza (Grecia). Estamos
seguros de que para ellos constituirá una experiencia inolvidable convivir,
aunque sólo sea unos pocos días, con familias turcas y griegas. Porque,
aceptémoslo, no sólo existe la Europa occidental. Volvamos, pues, nuestros ojos
hacia Grecia, a la que tanto le debemos, y a Turquía, puente natural entre
Europa y Asia.
